Lauren's passion for current events and journalism is a springboard to uncovering news and telling stories in an inspiring, informing, and entertaining way. Her primary goal is to share stories that impact viewers, while creating a relationship that connects, inspires, and motivates the audience.

Lauren spent her first two years in the news industry reporting for WBTW News13 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In July 2021, she jumped markets to WGHP FOX8 in High Point, North Carolina and is currently the morning news reporter.

Since working in news, she’s had exposure covering major events including the Winston Fertilizer fire, Pilot Mountain wildfire, COVID-19 global pandemic, Hurricane Isaias and Dorian, a Myrtle Beach police officer fatally shot in line of duty, George Floyd protests, Blue Lives Matter rallies, local elections and more.

Her reporting coverage ranges from breaking news to severe weather, COVID-19 research and vaccine updates, protests, shootings, crime, education, court hearings, council meetings, health, infrastructure, and human interest stories.

Lauren graduated in 2019 from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor’s degree in News and Media Studies and a minor in Business. With a broad range of work experience in news, sports, corporate communications, and collegiate courses, Lauren was ready to jumpstart her reporting career and moved to the East Coast upon graduation to start working at WBTW News13.

She also completed two internships in the Dallas/Fort Worth market at NBCUniversal and CBS affiliate stations. While interning at two lead stations, she pitched story ideas at meetings, wrote content for the web, managed the network’s social media, shadowed reporters and anchors, and assisted with election coverage for two consecutive years.

From a young age, Lauren has always wanted to work in television broadcast in some capacity. The process of developing stories for viewers and delivering impactful messages has always been something Lauren admires in journalism.

In order to be truly successful, Lauren believes you must love what you are doing, know your purpose, be passionate, set goals, and always strive to improve skill.

I’ve always believed the best journalists are the ones able to recognize a story where others often don’t notice. The people we connect with in our communities and everyday lives are often the ones with overlooked stories. Every person and community has their own story and a unique way of life and my job is to share, inform, and inspire.
